Summer Learning Programs Sparked Delight and Discovery

Bubble parties, bucket drumming, llama visits, nest construction, rocket launching, origami making, music sampling, and of course, reading! These are just a few of the 500+ free Summer Learning programs offered at the library. Nearly 10,000 participants enjoyed activities designed to help spark new ideas, develop academic and emotional skills, deepen relationships and find value in reading and learning! Plus, 11,000 books in 18 languages were sent home with children and teens to start building their personal libraries. We’ll chalk that up to a fun and successful summer at the library.

The Power of Summer Learning

Every summer, Hennepin County Library offers hundreds of free activities for children and teens across its 41 locations. In addition to system-wide programs across the 41 libraries, librarians and staff leaders at each library create their own unique programs based on local interests and requests, such as classes focused on nature and workshops that get youth moving. Throughout the community, libraries are a crucial resource for thousands of families seeking to keep their children engaged and learning during the summer months, providing unique learning opportunities for all ages.
