Friends of HCL helps promote the many book sales run by local Friends chapters in the Library system.
Books sold at these venues are a combination of books weeded from the Library collection and books donated by Library patrons. With the help of hundreds of volunteers across the system, book sales raise more than $250,000 each year and help distribute hundreds of thousands of affordable books back into the community.
Each sale features a range of adult and children’s fiction and nonfiction books in hardcover and paperback. Most books are priced at $2 or less. Mark your calendar for a sale near you.
Are you interested in donating books to the Library? Donations are accepted on an as-needed basis and are determined by each individual local Friends Chapter. Contact your local Friends Chapter today to coordinate a book donation.
Local Friends Book Sales Update
We at Friends of HCL are mindful of developments related to COVID-19 and the precautions we need to take as an organization and as individuals to stay healthy. Please check this page prior to attending a currently listed book sale for the most up-to-date information.
Based on current recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health, the governor, and the CDC, and in line with current guidelines for Hennepin County Library programs, meetings, and events, the following previously posted book sales have been canceled: Minnetonka: May 16, Pierre Bottineau: May 16, Plymouth: June 6, Ridgedale: June 20 & 21, Maple Grove: July 11 & 12, and Excelsior: July 16 & 17.
