Talk of the Stacks

A free author lecture series showcasing urgent voices and fostering vital conversations

Talk of the Stacks events are FREE and open to the public, but registration is required. Use the links on individual event pages to register.

All in-person Talk of the Stacks events take place at Minneapolis Central Library in Pohlad Hall on the 2nd Floor, at the top of the atrium escalators. Doors open at 6 p.m. for general admission seating. Registrants must check-in for seating by 6:20 p.m. After this time, any open seats will be released to our wait list queue. 

Masks are welcomed but not required for in-person Talk of the Stacks events.

In-Person Events: Accessible and companion seating are available at all Talk of the Stacks events. Check with a staff member or volunteer upon arrival to request this seating. For all other requests, including ASL interpretation services, please email FriendsEvents@hclib.org at least two weeks prior to your event.

Virtual Option: Closed captioning is provided for all virtual Talk of the Stacks events. To use closed captioning during a virtual program, click the "CC" icon and select "Show Subtitles."

All in-person Talk of the Stacks events take place at Minneapolis Central Library in Pohlad Hall on the 2nd Floor, at the top of the atrium escalators. Paid parking is available in-building at the library's underground parking ramp, accessible via 4th Street. Additional parking ramps and street meters are also available. Several bus routes stop at the library, and the Nicollet Mall light rail station (blue/green lines) is one block south.
