Minnetonka Library is located on land once occupied by the historic Westburg House and Farm in western Minnetonka, adjacent to Purgatory Creek and Park. Library service to this area of Hennepin County began in the late 1800s when the library was housed within the Fletcher-Loring Flour Mill office space at Minnetonka Mills. For more than a century, the library operated from various community locations. Minnetonka Library’s first permanent location opened on Excelsior Boulevard in 1989.
