The Library Foundation supports one of the best library systems in the country, serving more than 1.2 million patrons, at 41 locations, with over 5 million items. Members play an integral role in demonstrating
what an active network of library supporters can accomplish. Here are just a few reasons we need
your support:

  • Skyrocketing Use. The Library’s circulation of books and materials hit 16.7 million last year – an all-time record.

  • Youth Enrichment. Private support enables the Foundation to sponsor early literacy, Summer Reading, Homework Hub, and Guys Read programs serving thousands of children annually.

  • Programs for New Americans. The Library’s programs assist immigrant families integrate into the community through employment, education, citizenship, housing and health care resources.

  • Responsive Cultural Programs. The Foundation hosted more than 75 programs last year including Talk of the Stacks, Pen Pals, Childish Films, and more.


  • The Hennepin County Library is one of the best in the country. It was ranked 4th in a recent national library review and received the highest rating of 5 stars by the Library Journal. The strength of any library is based on its support in the community.
