Tracy’s most recent collection of poetry, Life on Mars, published by Graywolf Press, won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize and was selected as a New York Times Notable Book. Her collection Duende won the James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets and an Essence Literary Award. The Body’s Question won the 2002 Cave Canem Poetry Prize. A graduate of Harvard, she teaches creative writing at Princeton University.
This event is part of the Pen Pals Author Lecture series, a ticketed series benefiting Friends of HCL. The 2013–14 Pen Pals Season offers five eclectic and engaging authors who collectively have won many of the world’s most coveted literary honors: George Saunders, A.S. Byatt, Luis Alberto Urrea, Art Spiegelman and Tracy K. Smith.
Individual tickets are $40 for level 2 and $50 for level 1. Subscribers receive a 20% discount. Friends of HCL members can receive an additional discount of $10 per subscription and $5 per ticket. Complimentary desserts and coffee served before each programs. A public book signing open to all attendees follows the daytime lectures. An exclusive wine/appetizer post-lecture reception with the author is available for $25 after all evening lectures.
