Friends of HCL is an active community of supporters for our nationally-acclaimed Library system. As the nonprofit partner of Hennepin County Library, Friends of HCL raises funds for HCL strategic priorities including youth-focused programs such as Teen Tech Squad and Homework Help and key initiatives such as expanding early learning, building our beloved collection, and reaching out to homebound seniors.  Friends of HCL also presents Pen Pals and Talk of the Stacks and coordinates 41 local library friends groups.

Friends of the Hennepin County Library enriches the resources and enhances the potential of the Hennepin County Library.

As a dynamic and effective organization deeply invested in the well-being of our community, Friends of the Hennepin County Library will secure significant community support for the Hennepin County Library system.

Our Goals 

  1. Provide at least $1 million in annual cash support to HCL (by end of three years).
  2. Support local Friends groups in their membership and fundraising efforts.
  3. Clarify, strengthen and grow Friends of HCL’s brand in the community.
  4. Build organizational capacity.
